Welcome to another great school year! I look forward to another successful year from our 6th grade students in math.  It is always amazing to see how they grow throughout the year! We will definitely be using both the Instruction and Practice books for Ready Math, and we will be working through the iReady computer-generated lessons to challenge them at their level and above.
I will do my best to keep you updated regarding any assignments, projects and upcoming quizzes or tests for all subjects.  I sometimes change the planned assignment depending on the students' understanding and success with the day's lesson in math.  So, I will usually include the "anticipated " assignments for the week with the understanding that they could change from day-to-day.  Please check your child's agenda daily for the correct assignment.  Even if there is no assignment, the students should be writing "None" for that subject.  As the year goes on, we find the students use these less and less, and homework is more often incomplete due to this.
I am able to tell you at this point that your child must have a notebook (Single-subject!) for math which should include notes and examples of that day's work.  Please refer to it often.  I tell the students that they should NEVER start an assignment without their notebook open by their side.  I also encourage them to TRY the problem according to the notes and doing what they THINK they should do, and then they can check to see if they've done the work correctly.
Thanks so much for checking out my overview! Let's get started with a new school year and a lot of success stories with our students throughout the year!
